Food Safety Management Systems Foundation Training Course

Introduction

Consumers are becoming more and more concerned about food safety. From tainted milk to contaminated peanut butter, food scares and recalls have been ever-present over the past several years. Extended global supply chains and lack of adherence to global safety standards are partly to blame. As manufacturers and retailers make efforts to address deficiencies in their supply chains, and multiple safety standards and schemes are proposed and adopted, progress is being made to ensure global food safety.

FSSC 22000 contains a complete certification scheme for Food Safety Systems based on the food safety management standard ISO 22000: 2005 ‘Requirements for any organization in the food chain’ and the publicly available specification for Prerequisite programs on food safety for food manufacturing, PAS 220: 2008.

Course Objective

The introduction to PAS 220:2008 is covered in this awareness course to train all participants to understand the specification in detail.

Publicly Available Specification (PAS 220:2008) is a set of criteria that can be included in an ISO 22000:2005 audit. It is documented and established to bring adequate details to ISO 22000, sub clause 7.2 on prerequisite programs. It includes all details required under most regulatory based prerequisite programs. All required relevant procedures, records and internal audits shall cover these details to achieve certification to ISO 22000 standard including PAS 220 which is intended to bring the ISO 22000 standard technical details to a level of detail that will permit recognition of ISO 22000/PAS 220 as a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) approved standard

PAS 220:2008 is introduced with ISO 22000 standards to assist organization to implement the pre requisite programmes (PRPs) effectively within the food industries. All food Industries can benefit on acquiring good knowledge of the full GMP requirements defined in the PAS 220:2008.

The PAS 220 specification applies to all organisations, regardless of size or complexity, as well as to all who are involved in the manufacturing step of the food chain and who wish to implement PRPs.

Participants will be introduced to the new PAS 220 requirements in this training course and they will be able to enhance their current pre requisite and hygiene programme.

For Whom

This is an awareness course designed to provide understanding to personnel in food industries to gain knowledge on the new specification implemented in Food Safety Management System  and  new requirements in addition to ISO 2200O:2005 standard.
